4. Reports from Local Police
Following the previous Forum meeting we had requested attendance at the next meeting from our local police officer(s), but were told no one was available. We were therefore very surprised and pleases to welcome PC Crouch, PCSO Baker and CPO Jack Harrison (ADC).
They advised that local resources had recently been diverted to Response resulting in less police presence in the community.
Various topic were raised to them – responses in italics:
Off road biking – please report incidents by calling 101, but difficulty in getting authority to intervene
Threats to horses and riders – anyone experiencing these should report them using the Horse I app from the British Horse Society
Vehicles and electric bikes travelling at high speeds along Stanton Hill High Street, Skegby Road and Fackley Road – please report incidents by calling 101
Concern regarding the proximity of the traveller site at Wood End to the Teversal Trails – report any issues to ADC Planning Dept
The officers emphasised that only by the public reporting issues using 101, can they get a picture of the volume of the different issues and thereby build justification and get authority to act
The Stanton Hill group advised that they were working on initiatives to create activities and engagement with local youths, which could help reduce some anti-social behaviours
CPO Jack Harrison advised that 14 cameras have been installed in the area as part of the program against fly-tipping.

5. Reports from Working Groups
Planning & Environment - Lis Reid
The re-examination of the Local Plan by a planning inspector is progressing and members of the Forum will be taking part in public sessions in November and December, supporting the written submissions that have already been made.
Ashfield District Council has issued a request for additional development land and a number of large plots on Wild Hill and Silverhill Lane have been put forward by their respective owners.
~
Heritage – Lynn Henstock
No decision has been made on the appeal by the owners of the Spring Cottage / Whiteboro Farm site against the enforcement notice
The barrier to the entrance to Footpath 35 (runs west from Fackley Road near the railway bridge) apparently has an unlocked padlock, so is "accessible", but it is not possible to physically access the Teversal Trails from path because it is blocked by overgrown hedges.
The planning application for Hardwick View on Wild Hill has been refused
The planning application for Heathfield on Silverhill Lane has been approved and construction has already started.
~
Friends of Stanton Hill (FOSH) – Andrew Jenkins
The Stanton Hill Investment Plan Delivery group is meeting monthly and various members of the Forum are members of that group.
A statement was issued by Ashfield District Council regarding funding for the Investment Plan – available here.
A copy of the Investment Plan is available on the Forum's website..

Climate Change & Sustainability & Public Transport – Andrew Jenkins
Food Share
The Food Share continues to operate on Wednesdays at Skegby Library. The Place of Welcome, taking place alongside the Food Share, is also proving very successful. Public transport
Public transport
With the support of the Neighbourhood Forum a group of local residents have formed the Stanton Hill Bus Service Improvement Group and have proposed a number of specific measures to greatly improve the ‘connectivity’ of Stanton Hill, as well as Skegby and Teversal.
They have also launched a petition to gain support for the plan. Full details available here
The regional mayor is due to launch an East Midlands Transport Strategy later this year and it is important that as many individuals as possible respond to the request for comments with the points from the Stanton Hill Bus Service Improvement Plan.
The Bus Group and the Forum will also be lobbying a wide range of Council officials and officers.

6. Community Energy Project (CEP) - Geoff Snare
The final version of the report from the feasibility study carried out by our consultants from Savi energy will be available by the end of October.
An executive summary of the report will be available on the Forum website, with the full report available to download.
As stated at the previous Forum meeting the following projects have been confirmed as worth taking forward to the next stage:
- A solar panel rooftop installation at Teversal Visitor Centre to provide significant electricity cost savings to the centre, as well as two EV charging points linked to the rooftop solar system
- A Residential Solar Club providing rooftop solar panel installation to local residents, without the normal upfront capital cost
We will looking to obtain funding for Stage 2 of the project – detailed plans and full business case – when the next round of funding becomes available, currently expected in April 2026.

7. Teversal Repair Café - Geoff Snare
The Repair Café events continue to run on the first Saturday of each month at the Teversal Visitor Centre. Our team of volunteers remains rather small, but all are very keen and turn out each month, but we are always looking for additional volunteers.
The next event is on November 1st.

8. Any Other Business
Lis Reid is working on a paper that looks at the provision of health services in the Forum area versus the services that are actually required. She will share a draft with the managers of the Brierly Park Surgery, before bring back to the Forum for final review.
A discussion took place regarding broadband service in Teversal, Stanley and surrounding rural villages. Cllr Mason was asked to obtain a status update on the Project Gigabit (Lot 10) covering rural areas of Nottinghamshire which had been due to start connections in early 2025.
