Stanton Hill Investment Plan – Update

Ashfield District Council has funded the development of the Stanton Hill Investment Plan involving the residents, with a UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) allocation in 2024/25. The full allocation of funding of £22,000 was spent on the plan’s development and community engagement

ADC also intends to use the Stanton Hill UKSPF allocation for 2025/26 (received from the East Midlands Combined County Authority), to deliver activities from the Plan. The Community Investment Plan UKSPF allocation for 2025/2026 has a revenue spend of £5,000 for the year and a capital allocation of £35,000 (which must be spent by 31 March 2026). £2,500 of the revenue spend was used for the Summer Fair event in Stanton Hill, and the rest may be spent on a Christmas event to be organised by the Vine Tree.

Other near-term planned improvements include:
- Two new benches close to the Vine Tree (one on each side of the High Street), possibly with planters, and on the Co-op Garden Site
- Development of a community allotment on the former allotment land located on Brand Lane
- Stanton Hill Community Heritage Mural on the side of the Co-op building next to the garden

The Council is continuing to invest other funding. In November 2024, Cabinet approved adding £36,000 to the Capital Programme for improvements to the Wharf in Stanton Hill, plus a further £200,000 in S106 income (funding from housing developers) which will be used towards the provision of improvements to Brierley Park Close Industrial Units and Stanton Hill High Street including shop frontage improvements and public realm improvements.

ADC is committed to looking, with the community, for further funding opportunities to deliver the actions in the Stanton Hill Investment Plan over the coming years.
